The wonder years.
Kalus, Noel and the crew. Melbourne nights, a dream run and a community that reached far beyond any one room.

A chapter with its own names
The wonder years cover the 2009–2013 chapter around Kalus, Noel and their crew. Kalus's own recollection reaches a little further back: he describes 2008 to 2012 as a dream run. That run began with the shift from vinyl to CDs at his first Wah Wah Lounge gig.
After Noel approached him at Kiss My Grass in 2009, the partnership became part of a thriving period across Melbourne's dance scene. Noizy Neighbours in Ringwood was an important part of it, alongside Wah Wah, Lab22 and Mothership.
From Ringwood to the wider circuit
The story reached from Melbourne's suburban dancefloors into the city, across Victoria and Australia, and overseas. Kalus remembers Sydney and New Zealand as particular highlights. His recollection of placing nineteenth in the 2010 inthemix Australian DJ poll is another milestone from that run.
Ringwood remains a local anchor in the story. Noizy Neighbours connects this wider period to a particular community and place. Around it sat a network of events and projects, with Kalus, Noel and the crew carrying the work between them.
The sound is still there
There is a listening archive alongside the memories. The public Lab22 podcast collects recordings under the Lab22, Noizy Neighbours and Mothership names, among others. A Kalus nostalgia mix looks back at Melbourne's underground sounds from 2008 to 2013.
Those recordings give returning listeners a route back into the music, and newer listeners somewhere to begin. They also place K-DOT Records in a longer story: a label shaped by people whose connection began on dancefloors, years before this website or KDOT Radio.
