Kalus

Kalus is a Melbourne DJ, producer and K-DOT Records co-founder. He started DJing in 2003 at Billboard nightclub, playing hard trance with Smile Police. His musical life also ran through the city's record stores: weekly trips in search of new tunes, followed by managing Tsunami Records until it closed.

His taste has always reached beyond one genre. A Powderfinger album from his dad, Tracy Chapman and Fleetwood Mac started a collection that grew to include hip hop, house, trance, pop, R&B and rock. Armand van Helden and De La Soul were early influences; Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin and deadmau5 followed.

After playing strictly vinyl until 2008, his first Wah Wah Lounge gig prompted the move to CDs. The years that followed included shows in Sydney and New Zealand, and a partnership with Noel that began at Kiss My Grass in 2009. Wah Wah, Lab22, Mothership and Noizy Neighbours became part of their shared story.

Today, Kalus releases original music through K-DOT Records and presents KDOT Radio. His catalogue includes Jump, Fickle, Into the Night and Berlin Calling. The music continues a listening habit that started long before the first club set.
